About Us
Educational Skills Development and Dance Movement Therapy is a chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association. The founder and director is Dr. Nwanne Onyemenem, a dancer, choreographer, educator, writer, musician, member of the American Dance Therapy Association, and an Rtd. Professor of dance choreography and education.
Dr. Onyemenem is the current President of Skills, Resources & Development Inc. (Center for Research and Development of African Dance and Music as Healing Art) and also a representative of Maryland Nigeria Sister State Program and the coordinator of the Imo State partnership program with the State of Maryland.
He is a research fellow and studied dance therapy with the American Dance Therapy Association and Kinections Institute of Dance Therapy in Rochester New York. He is also a member of the American Dance Therapy Association.
FOUNDER
As a Dance Choreographer and Educator, his recent work focuses on the research and development of African Dance and Music as Healing Art; which reveals how Dance and Music are connected with Medicine toward the promotion of human wellness.
He was a State choreographer for Bendel Arts Council for ten years. He was a dance professor and choreographer for California State University, Fresno, and Prince George’s county Board of Education in Maryland.
He is the director of the Affiliated Nigerian Office of Foreign Based Educational Skills development and Dance Therapy Instructor Led Training (ILT), Cross Border Educational Systems, and professional provider.
Association and DTR (Dance Therapy Registered). Professor of dance choreography and education Coordinator of Imo State Partnership with Chicago College In which Dr. Nwosu, the H.O D of the Theater Arts in Imo State, represented Imo State at the American Dance Therapy Conference.
MISSION
To combat drug and alcohol addiction, mental health, cancer, stress, tension, trauma, and disharmony.
VISION
Our vision is to become the preferred choice for all persons who want to heal the right way through our dance/movement and music psychotherapies.

Services
The Center for Research and Development of African Dance and Music as Healing Art is a Program that was created due to a collaborative initiative between Skills, Resources and Development Inc. and George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates USA. The creation of this program has generated awareness around the world of African Dance and music as a healing Art. The goal of this initiative is to create an institute of African dance within different universities worldwide, with an exchange student program between Universities.
Our activities include:

Dance Therapy Workshops for Cancer Survivors
SEMINARS
The workshops focus on issues that affect practitioners to facilitate life-span development, prevent, diagnose, and treat issues that interfere with healthy functioning, and assess, evaluate, and develop treatment goals.

Recruitment of Dancers and Organizing Auditions
RECRUITMENT
Through Dance Auditions, DMTs get the opportunities to hone their skills, receive corrections, learn new materials, familiarize themselves with a choreographer’s unique movement vocabulary, and experience her/his different teaching styles.

Care Programs for Victims of Psychological Problems.
WELFARE
Through access to various Care Programs, we provide Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). We achieve this through the treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
